TL;DR
Software Engineer II (C#/.NET/WPF): Developing and maintaining full-stack Windows Presentation Foundation applications for medical device systems with an accent on XAML interfaces, MVVM, SQL data access, and instrument communication. Location: Onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $85,000–$120,000 annually

What you will do

  • Develop, test, and maintain Windows desktop applications using C#, .NET, WPF, XAML, and MVVM.
  • Create user-interface components including views, controls, styles, templates, data binding, commands, validation, and navigation.
  • Implement application logic, service-layer components, SQL queries, stored procedures, database objects, and data-access components.
  • Integrate WPF applications with medical instruments, local services, external systems, and APIs using established interfaces such as TCP/IP sockets.
  • Write unit and integration tests, investigate defects, debug software, and support root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, design discussions, code reviews, documentation, and collaboration with Software, Systems, Hardware, and Quality teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Approximately three years of software development experience, including relevant internships, co-op assignments, academic projects, or personal projects.
  • Practical experience with WPF applications, C#, .NET, XAML, MVVM, object-oriented programming, data binding, commands, controls, styles, templates, and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL databases and application data-access technologies.
  • Basic understanding of RESTful APIs, software services, TCP/IP, asynchronous programming, multithreading, and exception handling.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with willingness to learn regulated medical-device development practices.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with stored procedures, transactions, or database schema design.
  • Exposure to C++, medical device software, regulated industries, Linux systems, or automated build tools.
