Senior Data Architect (Databricks)

What you will do

• Lead architecture for Databricks lakehouse implementations, platform migrations, and modernization programs, with Azure as the preferred cloud.
• Design Delta Lake, medallion, Unity Catalog, ingestion, orchestration, CI/CD, testing, observability, and FinOps standards.
• Direct migrations from legacy platforms such as Teradata, Snowflake, Synapse, and on-premises warehouses into Databricks and Fabric/Power BI ecosystems.
• Architect AI-ready data platforms, including feature pipelines, Mosaic AI, model serving, GenAI, and agentic use cases.
• Support discovery calls, architecture workshops, solution design, engagement scoping, SOW reviews, and reusable technical accelerators.
• Act as the primary technical liaison to Databricks, mentor engineers, lead enablement sessions, and guide delivery risk management.

Requirements

• Current Databricks Champion certification in good standing is required.
• A shareable Databricks credentials wallet link showing all active certifications is required.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, including 4+ years of hands-on Databricks experience.
• Production experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows or Lakeflow, Databricks SQL, Spark, PySpark, SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Experience with security and governance, including access controls, lineage, PII handling, and compliance in regulated industries.
• Cloud architecture experience, ideally with Azure ADLS, Entra ID, networking, and DevOps, plus working knowledge of AWS or GCP.

Nice to have

• Additional Databricks certifications, such as Data Engineer Professional or Solutions Architect.
• Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, MLflow, Mosaic AI, GenAI, or agentic workloads.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform or Asset Bundles and CI/CD for data platforms.
• Consulting or professional services experience involving scoping, estimation, and SOW contribution.
