News and Production Intern, NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego – Spring 2027

Location: On-site at the hirify.global station in San Diego, California; 15 hours per week.

What you will do

• Research local stories, identify sources and experts, conduct pre-interviews, and monitor mainstream and social media for leads.
• Write, edit, translate, and publish broadcast and digital news content, including articles, scripts, video clips, packages, and pre-production elements.
• Cut video from newscasts, add metadata, and publish content to social media, websites, and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with producers, reporters, and on-air talent to gather elements and produce daily news content.
• Monitor assignments, conduct beat checks, log breaking news, and generate story ideas using Google Trends and SEO strategy.
• Observe live newscast operations and receive hands-on training with Automated Production Control technology.

Requirements

• Fluent Spanish and English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Currently pursuing an associate, bachelor's, or graduate degree at an accredited institution; sophomore standing or above and at least 30 credits required. Recent graduates are not eligible.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring current or future work visa sponsorship.
• Must work in person at the designated hirify.global worksite in San Diego.
• Available to work 15 hours per week and at least 18 years old.
• Coursework in news writing and journalism, AP style knowledge, Windows experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
