WABC-TV (ABC7) 7 On Your Side Intern, Spring 2027

Location: New York, New York, United States; part-time, 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from January 2027 through June 2027. Candidates must provide housing and reliable transportation in the New York area.

Salary: $22.50 per hour

WABC-TV is a Disney/ABC-owned television station producing broadcast and digital news content for viewers in the New York market.

What you will do

• Pre-interview viewers and guests who report scams, disputes, or consumer issues.
• Compile supporting documents and pitch strong consumer advocacy stories to the producer.
• Provide thoughtful customer service and maintain organized project materials and relationships with viewers.
• Shadow reporter Nina Pineda on shoots, learn on-camera techniques, and perform sample stand-ups.

Requirements

• Interest in journalism, television news, or multimedia storytelling through coursework, student media, projects, or internships.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and communicate professionally by phone and email.
• Experience with broadcast journalism, television news production, or news script writing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and OneDrive file-sharing workflows.
• Experience creating social media content with mobile or web-based editing tools and adapting broadcast content for digital platforms using AP Style.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, be at least 18 years old, and possess unrestricted work authorization.

Nice to have

• Portfolio demonstrating journalism, broadcast, multimedia, or digital storytelling work; a portfolio link must be included on the résumé.
