Vehicle Controls Engineering Intern

Location: Onsite at the headquarters in Torrance, California, United States. Summer internship runs from June 14 to August 20, 2027.

Base pay: $42 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop and test vehicle control algorithms using MATLAB Simulink and Stateflow.
• Support hardware and software integration for vehicle control systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics to support control-system designs.
• Run basic tests and simulations to validate control functionality.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and optimize control solutions.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with control systems and MATLAB Simulink through coursework or project experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to adapt and learn in a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to work onsite at the Torrance, California headquarters during the summer internship.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-performance electric vehicles, solar cars, Formula SAE, or similar projects.
• Knowledge of high-voltage systems and HV battery-pack design or functionality.
• Familiarity with CAN communication and advanced control systems.
• Interest in boating and clean energy.
