TL;DR
Data Operations Engineer (Python/SQL/Healthcare Data): Monitoring and troubleshooting data ingestion, feeds, and pipelines with an accent on root-cause analysis, incident response, and stakeholder communication. Focus on resolving complex data and code issues, improving pipeline reliability, and preventing recurring operational problems.

Location: Remote within the United States; team members in the Nashville, Tennessee area may work from the headquarters office on a hybrid basis.

What you will do

  • Monitor daily data ingestion, feeds, pipeline latency, and operational health.
  • Triage and resolve data, code, and pipeline errors, including incidents handled through an on-call rotation.
  • Analyze root causes, identify inefficiencies, and propose actionable reliability improvements.
  • Partner with IT, development, technical delivery teams, vendors, and other stakeholders on milestones, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Create plans to educate stakeholders and mitigate recurring problems.
  • Independently assess, prioritize, and manage issues through resolution in an agile environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience; high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of experience using SQL.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience using Python.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience with databases or data tools.
  • Understanding of object-oriented code, instrumentation, logging, and alerting best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, attention-to-detail, and independent problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Databricks, Spark, and Delta tables.
  • Experience with lakehouse and medallion architectures.
  • Experience with data integration and ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience with healthcare data or regulated data environments.
