Quality Control Technologist I-III (Genomics)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; onsite laboratory role. Shift: Tuesday–Saturday, 2:00pm–10:30pm.

Salary: $23.25–$28.50 per hour.

What you will do

• Support quality control activities in a high-volume molecular laboratory and maintain equipment and reagent compliance.
• Create and implement equipment functionality and reagent processes for R&D, clinical, and modeling laboratory staff.
• Schedule and complete performance qualifications, preventive maintenance, equipment relocation, and routine maintenance.
• Prepare reagents, evaluate new reagent lots, collect QC data, and monitor performance metrics.
• Investigate deviations and laboratory issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and monitor temperature excursions.
• Maintain SOPs, equipment records, QC documentation, and audit materials while training and supporting laboratory personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemistry, physics, biology, or a related field.
• Ability to analyze QC data and monitor assay or instrument performance.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Experience maintaining accurate records in document-control systems.
• Moderate experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
• Ability to occasionally lift 40 pounds is highly desirable.

Nice to have

• At least one year of experience in a molecular laboratory or working with laboratory liquid handlers.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory regulated by CAP, CLIA, NYS-DOH, or ISO.
