Coding Analyst, HB Coding (Healthcare)

Location: Remote work site associated with Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $28.23–$39.52 per hour

What you will do

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis, CPT-4, HCPCS, and evaluation and management codes for outpatient encounters.
• Review medical records and documentation to report appropriate diagnoses, procedures, and services.
• Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD, Chargemaster, and other outpatient claim-edit failures.
• Apply coding guidelines, Coding Clinic guidance, CPT Assistant instructions, and coding conventions with a minimum of 95% accuracy.
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical areas on coding and reimbursement matters.
• Meet established productivity and quality standards for each outpatient encounter type.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC certification required.
• AHIMA or AAPC membership required.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
• Ability to apply ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and outpatient coding standards.

Nice to have

• RHIA or RHIT combined with CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC certification.
• Four years of experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• Four years of experience in a professional setting.
