Outpatient Coding Auditor

Location: Remote nationwide within the United States; must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States. Travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations may be required based on business needs.

Salary: $57,400–$99,000 annually, based on experience.

What you will do

• Audit outpatient facility coding for diagnosis, CPT, HCPCS, CCI edits, and modifier accuracy.
• Apply ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CMS, NCCI, CPT Assistant, and Coding Clinic guidelines to identify billing, coding, and quality issues.
• Review clinical documentation and regulatory requirements to determine whether coding is supported and compliant.
• Document root-cause issues using account examples, spreadsheets, claims, and relevant regulatory research.
• Support executive audit summaries, client coding education, training, and recommendations.
• Maintain productivity standards, attend coding education sessions, and provide organized customer service.

Requirements

• 3+ years of outpatient facility coding experience.
• 3+ years of coding audit experience.
• Advanced knowledge of medical coding, billing systems, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
• At least one current certification is required: CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT; CCS is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus the ability to communicate coding information and provide staff guidance.
