Rust Software Engineer (Drones)

Location: Remote from Romania, Croatia, or Morocco

What you will do

• Develop and improve ground-control and operator-facing applications for autonomous and drone systems.
• Build high-performance desktop GUIs and technical user interfaces primarily with Rust.
• Implement telemetry, real-time data visualization, system monitoring, and operator workflows.
• Work with 2D/3D visualization, maps, sensor data, video processing, and streaming.
• Integrate applications with drones, robotic platforms, embedded systems, and external services.
• Optimize performance, memory usage, multithreading, latency, and responsiveness while contributing to architecture, testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and debugging.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong recent professional experience developing production software in Rust.
• Experience building desktop applications, GUIs, visualization tools, or operator-facing software.
• Experience with UI frameworks such as egui, Qt, GTK, Tauri, or comparable technologies.
• Experience with real-time data, telemetry, networking, streaming, or event-driven systems, plus multithreading, memory management, performance optimization, and asynchronous programming.
• Linux experience and strong software architecture and debugging skills.

Nice to have

• Drone ground-control software, UAV operator interfaces, or autonomous-system experience.
• 3D visualization, mapping, GIS, simulation, robotics monitoring, or telemetry dashboard experience.
• Video streaming or processing with GStreamer.
• ROS2, embedded or edge systems, C++, MAVLink, PX4, or ArduPilot experience.
