What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and models in an AWS-based medallion lakehouse.
- Own production data services and improve monitoring, testing, observability, deployment, resilience, and disaster recovery.
- Build reusable automation for dataset onboarding, governance, lineage, schema evolution, security, and least-privilege access.
- Develop trusted data products for reporting, analytics, APIs, and AI-powered applications, including text-to-SQL and LLM use cases.
- Migrate pipelines and reporting workloads from SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS while validating downstream dependencies.
- Partner with engineering, product, analytics, and data science teams; lead technical discussions and support junior engineers through reviews and guidance.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, and supporting cloud-based data pipelines, preferably with AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, or Redshift.
- Strong SQL and Python skills with structured and semi-structured ETL/ELT workflows.
- Working knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, orchestration, Airflow, and modern data engineering practices.
- Experience improving the performance, reliability, and resource utilization of production data systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot independently, understand upstream and downstream dependencies, and communicate clearly across technical and business teams.
- Must be located in the United States for this remote position.
Nice to have
- Experience with dbt, Apache Iceberg, change data capture, or data products supporting LLMs and AI agents.
- Exposure to SSIS, SSRS, PowerShell, or legacy SQL Server migrations.
- Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, Jira, Confluence, or Agile engineering environments.
