Defined Benefit - Technical Loading Actuary

What you will do

• Oversee the actuarial loading and validation of complex Defined Benefit pension schemes.
• Interpret scheme rules, benefit specifications, actuarial factors, and calculation methodologies.
• Review and sign off actuarial rules, assumptions, calculations, and system outputs.
• Support the design and testing of GMP Equalisation functionality.
• Translate actuarial requirements into system specifications and calculation logic.
• Improve governance, controls, testing, auditability, and guidance across the loading process.

Requirements

• Qualified Actuary under the IFoA or an equivalent professional body.
• Strong technical knowledge of Defined Benefit pension schemes and complex benefit structures.
• Experience interpreting scheme documentation and reviewing actuarial calculations.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and professional assurance capabilities.
• Ability to explain complex actuarial requirements clearly to technical and operational colleagues.
• Interest in pension technology, systems, testing, or platform development, with sound judgement and a collaborative approach.
