TL;DR
Technician (Fusion) (superconducting hardware and cryogenic testing): Building, assembling, integrating, and testing high-temperature superconducting components, cables, assemblies, and coils for a commercial stellarator fusion power plant with an accent on electrical measurement, cryogenic systems, instrumentation, and traceable test operations. Focus on configuring complex test rigs, troubleshooting measurement and data-acquisition faults, analyzing acceptance results, and commissioning repeatable fixtures for first-of-a-kind hardware.

Location: Munich, Germany; on-site

Company

hirify.global is developing hardware and infrastructure for commercial stellarator fusion power plants, including the Alpha and Stellaris machines.

What you will do

  • Run acceptance and characterization tests on high-temperature superconducting tape, cables, assemblies, and completed coils.
  • Prepare test articles by cutting, soldering, terminating, mounting, and installing sensors, voltage taps, feedthroughs, and measurement wiring.
  • Operate dimensional inspection equipment, electrical instruments, high-current supplies, liquid-nitrogen baths, cryostats, cryocooler rigs, and vacuum systems after authorization.
  • Perform critical-current, n-value, joint-resistance, insulation-resistance, high-voltage insulation, visual, and dimensional tests.
  • Maintain test traceability, review data quality, document deviations, and compare results with acceptance criteria.
  • Troubleshoot test setups and instrumentation, maintain test rigs, support failure investigations, and commission new fixtures with engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Technical apprenticeship or qualification in electronics, mechatronics, laboratory work, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on testing, laboratory, or measurement experience in an industrial, research, or engineering environment.
  • Practical electrical measurement skills and the ability to read engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with data-acquisition systems, basic data reduction, accurate record-keeping, safety, configuration control, and traceability.
  • Working English is required for procedures, recording results, and technical discussions.
  • On-site work in Munich is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with superconductors, high- or low-temperature systems, cables, magnets, critical-current measurements, or quench detection.
  • Experience with cryogenic testing, liquid nitrogen or helium, cryocoolers, vacuum systems, or specialist low-level instrumentation.
  • CAD literacy and experience with Python or LabVIEW for test automation, data handling, and plotting.
  • German language skills.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on complex engineering challenges related to safe, clean fusion energy.
  • Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and design teams.
  • Join a growing organization working on first-of-a-kind hardware and advanced stellarator technology.
  • Be part of a diverse, mission-driven environment focused on rigorous execution and different perspectives.

Hiring process

  • Recruiter interview lasting 30–60 minutes.
  • Technical screening lasting 30 minutes, followed by a technical panel with three 60-minute interviews.
  • CEO call lasting 30 minutes.
