AI/ML Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, Denver, New York, or Remote in the United States; hybrid work setup

Salary: $115,000–$280,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and ship intelligent systems using LLMs, generative AI, heuristics, and evaluation infrastructure.
• Develop AI assistants for bookkeeping, financial workflows, document extraction, and transaction tagging.
• Scale evaluation pipelines, extensible harnesses, shared memory, durability, and other foundational AI infrastructure.
• Improve internal tooling for classification, tagging, summarization, prompt iteration, embedding search, labeling, and retraining.
• Collaborate with operations, product, design, and engineering to create reliable, intuitive AI features.
• Contribute to the long-term AI strategy, including automation decisions, confidence measurement, and human-in-the-loop design.

Requirements

• Experience building and shipping ML- or AI-driven features to production.
• Experience working with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, or fine-tuning.
• Ability to apply language models to unstructured and messy real-world datasets.
• Pragmatic judgment about when to use LLMs, heuristics, regular expressions, or user input.
• Experience with experimentation and rapidly evolving AI systems.
• Ability to work from San Francisco, Denver, New York, or remotely within the United States in a hybrid role.

Nice to have

• Experience with transactions, finance, document processing, or communications products.
• Experience with TypeScript and AI tooling such as Vercel AI SDK, Braintrust, Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini provider APIs.
