Technical Lead, Expert - Infrastructure, Data Protection/Ransomware (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid within the PG&E Service Territory, with 1–2 days per week at the Oakland headquarters based on business need.

Salary: $140,000–$189,000 annually; Bay Area range: $140,000–$238,000 annually. Eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise data protection and ransomware resilience initiatives across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Define and enforce data protection architecture, security controls, recovery standards, retention requirements, and governance practices.
• Translate business impact analyses, recovery objectives, security requirements, and application dependencies into resilient solution designs.
• Identify recovery gaps, platform dependencies, control weaknesses, and program risks, then develop mitigation plans.
• Coordinate cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, operations, vendors, and business stakeholders through implementation, testing, and operational handoff.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point during ransomware events, major incidents, and complex implementation challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in data protection, backup and recovery, infrastructure, systems administration, cloud operations, or related IT functions.
• Experience leading complex data protection, infrastructure resilience, cyber recovery, or ransomware preparedness projects.
• Expertise with Cohesity DataProtect and FortKnox, Commvault Cloud and Cleanroom Recovery, Dell PowerProtect, Cyber Recovery and CyberSense, and Rubrik Security Cloud and Cloud Vault.
• Knowledge of policy design, immutability, air-gapped protection, replication, encryption, threat detection, isolated recovery, automation, storage, databases, operating systems, and cloud technologies.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and vendors, communicate with executives, and convert recovery requirements into measurable technical outcomes.

Nice to have

• Relevant certifications in cloud, cybersecurity, business continuity, disaster recovery, backup and recovery, or enterprise infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with Agile or hybrid delivery environments, recovery orchestration, performance optimization, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
