Automation Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA. Hybrid role requiring regular in-office collaboration, with possible domestic and international travel including visits to London.

Salary: $144,500–$196,100 annually for Senior level.

What you will do

• Observe and measure Triage and Detective workflows to identify high-value automation opportunities.
• Build automation pipelines, triage bots, behavioural classifiers, and workflow tooling.
• Turn one-off scripts into robust, reusable tools with Detective Engineers.
• Validate automation accuracy, reliability, classifications, and root-cause outputs.
• Document automation purpose, operation, expected outputs, and limitations.
• Track triage quality and throughput and participate in regular triage and calibration sessions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working with complex technical systems, ideally in robotics or autonomous vehicles.
• Strong Python, SQL, and Bash or shell scripting skills.
• Comfort working in remote Linux environments.
• Experience building or maintaining data pipelines, notebooks, or cloud-triggered automation.
• Ability to identify worthwhile automation opportunities in ambiguous manual processes and own delivery end-to-end.
• Clear technical communication with technical and non-technical partners.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitLab, Databricks, or Jupyter.
• Experience with ML classifiers, web tooling, or Azure.
