TL;DR
VP of Data (AI): Leading the data strategy and organisation behind autonomous driving AI, from data acquisition and enrichment through training, evaluation, deployment, and model-performance measurement with an accent on rare-event discovery, safety-critical scenarios, and scalable global data operations. Focus on building the data flywheel, applying embeddings and semantic search to intelligent data selection, and making quality, cost, speed, and scale trade-offs across vehicle platforms, sensors, markets, and regulatory environments.
Location: Hybrid role based in the London, United Kingdom or Sunnyvale, California, USA office, combining office and workshop time with working from home.

What you will do
- Own the data strategy across the complete AI learning cycle, from foundation model training to specialised driving capabilities and production programmes.
- Build the data flywheel connecting real-world signals and model behaviour with data discovery, curation, enrichment, training, evaluation, deployment, and measurement.
- Develop methods to find rare, surprising, and safety-critical scenarios in large datasets using embeddings, semantic search, learned representations, and model-driven selection.
- Lead data acquisition and enrichment across vehicles, OEM programmes, partners, and external sources.
- Measure the value of data and guide trade-offs across quality, accuracy, speed, cost, scale, and build-versus-partner decisions.
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary Data organisation while partnering with AI, Science, Validation, Product, Compute, Finance, and Commercial teams.
Requirements
- Significant engineering leadership experience building and leading high-performing technical organisations.
- Deep technical expertise in computer vision, video, multimodal AI, or related perception problems.
- Experience leading large-scale data capabilities that directly influence model training, evaluation, and performance.
- Strong experience with data discovery, selection, curation, and enrichment at scale.
- Strong technical and commercial judgement across quality, speed, cost, scale, and build-versus-partner decisions.
- Ability to set direction in ambiguity, move between strategy and technical detail, and influence senior technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in autonomous driving, robotics, or embodied AI.
- Experience with large-scale video, multimodal, or foundation model training.
- Experience with semantic search, embeddings, active learning, auto-labelling, or intelligent data selection and enrichment.
- Experience acquiring large-scale real-world data across fleets, customers, partners, or multiple geographies.
