Refining and Petrochemical Process Optimization Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in Mexico; travel to client sites in the US is required, up to 25%

What you will do

• Scope optimization opportunities with customers, defining objectives, constraints, and expected economic value.
• Lead technical implementation projects and maintain the technical relationship with customer engineers.
• Analyze plant time-series data, assess data quality, and determine modeling feasibility.
• Build and evaluate soft-sensor models, process response models, and closed-loop optimizers.
• Commission models on site, train operators and engineers, and monitor performance through customer sign-off.
• Maintain deployed models, troubleshoot issues, support plant data and control-system integrations, and provide feedback to Product and R&D.

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering experience in refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, NGL, or another continuous-process industry.
• BSc in Chemical Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Process engineering or process control background with knowledge of APC, gains, constraints, and objective functions.
• Hands-on experience analyzing plant time-series data and drawing conclusions from large datasets.
• Client-facing or operations-support experience with strong communication and presentation skills.
• Must be located in Mexico; willingness to travel to US client sites up to 25% is required.

Nice to have

• Operating plant, unit process engineering, control engineering, or operations-support experience.
• Planning and economics experience, including refinery LP models.
• Experience with APC, real-time optimization, project implementation, Python, data science, DCS, process historians, or OPC.
• Experience in consulting, customer-facing industrial technology, AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics.
• Experience improving plant performance with little or no capital expenditure.
