Senior Director, Translational Medicine (Oncology Biomarkers)

Location: Hybrid role requiring onsite presence at least 3 days per week in Jersey City, New Jersey

Salary: $252,000–$304,500 per year, depending on skills, competency, and market demand. Bonus and equity compensation are also included.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional biomarker subteams and develop comprehensive biomarker strategies aligned with oncology clinical programs.
• Collaborate with research, clinical development, clinical pharmacology, biostatistics, regulatory affairs, data management, clinical operations, and commercial functions.
• Identify, validate, and implement pharmacodynamic, predictive, prognostic, mechanism-of-action, safety, and resistance biomarkers.
• Author biomarker sections of clinical protocols and oversee their execution, including patient selection, dose optimization, and therapeutic response monitoring.
• Ensure fit-for-purpose analytical validation of biomarker assays and interpret complex biomarker data.
• Support publications, health authority interactions, INDs, NDAs/BLAs, companion diagnostic filings, and compliance with GCP and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• PhD and postdoctoral training in oncology, immunology, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of clinical biomarker development experience in a drug development setting.
• Experience translating disease biology and preclinical pharmacology into clinical biomarker strategies for oncology therapeutics.
• Expertise in biomarker assay selection, analytical validation, and clinical implementation across multiple technologies.
• Experience evaluating predictive and prognostic biomarkers and familiarity with companion diagnostic development.
• Strong strategic thinking, scientific communication, collaboration, leadership, and complex data interpretation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience conducting data analysis in R or Python.
