Lead Python Engineer / Technical Architect (Python)

Location: Remote within Europe, with regular travel to the client's London office. Up to two business trips per month are required, typically including approximately one week onsite in London each month; the role also requires availability to work onsite in London two days per week.

What you will do

• Lead solution architecture, technical design, and implementation of production-grade Python applications.
• Modernize and refactor applications originally developed by business teams.
• Design scalable, resilient, secure, and observable AWS-native solutions.
• Contribute to data architecture and solutions using Snowflake and modern data platforms.
• Define engineering standards, design patterns, testing practices, and CI/CD processes.
• Review code, support software quality and security, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior and middle-level engineers.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Python development experience and a track record of building production-grade applications.
• Strong AWS architecture and cloud engineering expertise, with experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, or hands-on Architect.
• Experience modernizing legacy or business-developed applications and applying software architecture and design patterns.
• Knowledge of API design, system integration, automated testing, CI/CD, version control, application security, monitoring, and observability.
• Experience with Snowflake or comparable modern data platforms, data-intensive applications, or analytics solutions.
• Ability and willingness to work onsite in London two days per week and travel to London regularly.

Nice to have

• Financial services experience, particularly in asset management, investment management, or capital markets.
• Experience with portfolio management, investment analytics, fixed income, or ETF solutions.
• Exposure to Aladdin, BNY, or comparable financial platforms and integrations.
• Experience modernizing applications developed by business analyst or quantitative teams.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled software development, agentic workflows, or AI-assisted SDLC.
