What you will do
- Operate CNC mills, lathes, welding tools, and related machining and fabrication equipment.
- Fabricate parts, prototypes, and custom components for tenants and Space Institute programs.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and inventory management.
- Coordinate work orders, fabrication requests, equipment reservations, materials, tooling, and shop utilization.
- Maintain operational, maintenance, access, and equipment-use documentation.
- Train users and provide real-time technical guidance while enforcing shop safety procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, machining, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least four years of experience in machining, fabrication, or technical laboratory/shop environments.
- United States citizenship is required because the position is security sensitive.
- Employment requires verification of authorization to work in the United States and completion of a criminal history investigation.
Nice to have
- Experience operating CNC or manual machining equipment.
- Technical or vocational training in machining or manufacturing.
- Experience with robotics, prototyping, engineering fabrication, CAD/CAM software, or precision measurement tools.
- Experience supporting multiple users or projects in a shared laboratory or machine-shop environment.
