System Engineer (VB.NET)

Location: Bridgend, South Wales, UK; onsite from the office. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Salary: £40,000–£60,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

hirify.global is recruiting for an established organisation that designs and manufactures advanced capital equipment for international customers.

What you will do

• Analyse technical, product, and customer requirements and define software functionality for engineering projects.
• Develop, modify, and support software applications and machine-control solutions using VB.NET and related technologies.
• Define software architecture, system interfaces, functionality, and expected system behaviour.
• Plan and perform software testing, verification, validation, debugging, deployment, integration, and commissioning.
• Investigate system issues and deliver corrections, enhancements, and software updates throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with software, engineering, production, product, customer, supplier, and subcontractor teams, including occasional international travel to customer sites.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of commercial experience in a professional software development environment.
• Higher-level qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Practical experience developing software applications with VB.NET.
• Experience developing software that interfaces with, monitors, or controls physical hardware, machinery, or engineering equipment.
• Experience with software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, validation, technical documentation, and requirements analysis.
• Legal right to work in the UK is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of industrial automation, machine control, and motion-control systems.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems.
• Experience with laser control systems or related technology.
