Software Engineer (PHP/Vue)

Location: Hybrid in Cramlington, United Kingdom, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the Cramlington office

What you will do

• Develop features across PHP applications built with Symfony and Laravel and Vue front ends.
• Improve the platform and contribute to infrastructure running on AWS EC2, EKS, containers, and related services.
• Investigate bugs beyond surface symptoms and take ownership of well-defined engineering problems.
• Work across concurrent feature, platform, and infrastructure workstreams while managing priorities and escalating conflicts early.
• Apply code review, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and security best practices.
• Support junior engineers through pairing and code reviews while learning from senior engineers.

Requirements

• Experience with PHP, Symfony, Laravel, or comparable full-stack frameworks such as Rails, Django, or .NET.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, SCSS, and Twig, or strong front-to-back fundamentals with the ability to build these skills.
• Working knowledge of AWS, including EC2, EKS, containers, RDS, or similar cloud services.
• Exposure to DevOps, platform, or infrastructure work and familiarity with engineering practices such as testing and CI/CD.
• Ability to manage priorities, communicate clearly, ask questions, and flag blockers rather than guessing.
• Availability to work from the Cramlington office at least 2 days per week is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Mimir.
• Experience supporting junior engineers or interns.
• Exposure to legacy or end-of-life systems.
