Principal AI Platforms Solution Architect

Location: Hybrid, working from the employee’s remote office and the Oakland headquarters based on business need; assigned work location must be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Salary: $155,000–$265,000 annually, with a Bay Area midpoint of $210,000, plus eligibility for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Define enterprise AI platform architecture standards, reference architectures, technical roadmaps, and reusable patterns.
• Architect multi-agent systems, autonomous workflows, Agent-to-Agent communication, and Human-in-the-Loop designs.
• Design AI Gateway, MCP, enterprise integration, and secure connectivity architectures.
• Architect RAG, semantic search, vector database, knowledge graph, and context management platforms.
• Establish AI governance, security guardrails, Responsible AI standards, privacy controls, compliance practices, and FinOps principles.
• Lead architecture reviews, advise business and technology leaders, evaluate emerging technologies, and mentor architects and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, artificial intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in solution, platform, cloud, enterprise architecture, or relevant IT roles.
• At least 7 years of architecture or software development experience, including 3 years architecting AI, ML, Generative AI, Agentic AI, or cloud solutions.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification or an equivalent cloud certification.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms in AWS and Azure, enterprise integration architectures, API-based platforms, architecture reviews, and Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Agentic AI platforms, AI Gateways, MCP, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, and enterprise AI services.
• Experience designing RAG, semantic search, vector database, and knowledge graph solutions.
• Experience with AI operating models, governance frameworks, Responsible AI controls, developer platforms, DevSecOps, AI observability, and GenAIOps.
• Experience in utilities, critical infrastructure, or highly regulated environments.
• Experience developing enterprise AI platform roadmaps and transformation strategies.
