TL;DR
Design Engineer (Vue): Building and evolving the Pit Viper design system and reusable Vue components for healthcare price-transparency applications with an accent on accessibility, responsive behavior, and cross-framework consistency. Focus on designing component APIs, implementing production interactions and edge states, and making shared components work across Vue, Web Components, and server-rendered surfaces.
Location: Fully remote within the United States; US-based candidates required. Work is aligned with US business hours.
Company
Turquoise Health is a Series C healthcare price-transparency platform building infrastructure for a more open and efficient healthcare marketplace, serving more than 300 enterprise organizations.
What you will do
- Design, build, test, document, and maintain reusable pv-components within the Pit Viper design system.
- Create component APIs, composition patterns, variants, interaction states, and extension points for evolving product needs.
- Ensure components work across Vue applications, native Web Components, and server-rendered product surfaces using Django templates or HTMX.
- Partner with product designers and engineers from early exploration through production implementation.
- Refine layouts, interactions, responsive behavior, typography, spacing, focus management, transitions, and feedback states directly in application code.
- Identify and resolve visual, behavioral, and accessibility issues while improving documentation, testing, releases, and contribution practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building production web interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience building or maintaining a design system, component library, or shared UI framework.
- Production-level experience with Vue or a comparable component framework such as React, Svelte, or Angular.
- Demonstrated experience implementing WCAG accessibility standards in shipped components.
- A portfolio, GitHub profile, or work sample showing component or interaction improvements.
- Current authorization to work in the United States is required; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- Experience authoring and publishing native Web Components.
- Experience with mixed-framework stacks combining a JavaScript framework with server-rendered templates.
- Experience maintaining a component library used by 10 or more engineers or teams.
- Familiarity with Storybook or Figma-to-code tooling.
- Experience in healthcare, fintech, or another data-dense enterprise product domain.
Culture & Benefits
- Fully remote work with flexible working hours and a remote-first US-based team.
- Competitive pay with equity options.
- Medical, dental, and vision healthcare plans with FSA, DCFSA, and HSA options.
- Unlimited PTO, generous paid family leave, and company-sponsored disability and life insurance.
- 401(k) with 4% matching, a $750 work-from-home setup budget, and annual learning and development support.
- Paid biannual company summits, quarterly coworker meetups, and monthly health and wellness benefits.
Hiring process
- Application materials should demonstrate before-and-after component or interaction work, rather than only visual mockups.
- Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the application and hiring process.
