Director: Technology - Web Application Firewall (WAF)

Location: Rockville, MD, with a hybrid work environment and defined in-person presence requirements. Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.

Salary: $154,400–$299,600 for Rockville, MD; ranges vary by approved U.S. location.

What you will do

• Lead the strategy, architecture, engineering, and operations of the enterprise Web Application Firewall program.
• Manage WAF rule tuning, policy management, false-positive reduction, DDoS and bot mitigation, and protection for internet-facing and internal applications.
• Direct PKI and certificate lifecycle management, including certificate authorities, key management, HSM administration, TLS/mTLS standards, and code-signing services.
• Evaluate and adopt AI-assisted development, generative AI, and AI-driven security tooling while managing security, privacy, and governance risks.
• Lead technology teams, resource planning, budgets, vendors, delivery practices, and reporting to senior Technology management.
• Support application security, cloud security, cryptography, secure software engineering, disaster recovery, business continuity, and SOX testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least 10 years of related experience, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of technical project, program, or practice-area oversight experience.
• Direct experience in strategy, software development, operations, engineering, development services, information security, or compliance.
• Knowledge of strategic planning, organizational change management, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination of people and resources.
• Familiarity with at least one of ISO-9000, ITIL, Agile, or iterative technology methodologies.
• Strong technical communication, analytical, relationship-building, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
