Principal Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Richmond, Virginia, for Virginia residents; hybrid schedule with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and core hours targeting 9am–5pm EST.

Salary: $144,800–$224,000 annual national range, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Lead complex cybersecurity engineering initiatives across application, infrastructure, cloud, vulnerability, identity, security services, and detection domains.
• Design, integrate, and improve enterprise security capabilities and controls.
• Troubleshoot escalated technical issues through root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation.
• Advance security tooling, automation, orchestration, prevention, detection, and response capabilities.
• Partner with engineering, architecture, infrastructure, operations, application, risk, and business teams to drive security outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, design reviews, and thought leadership without direct management responsibility.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive cybersecurity or security engineering experience.
• Broad expertise across application security, software security, infrastructure and cloud security, vulnerability management, identity or privileged access, detection and response, and security automation.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise security solutions.
• Ability to solve ambiguous, high-impact problems and influence technical decisions across functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant advanced certification such as CISSP, GIAC, or CCSP is preferred.
