AI Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: United States; compensation applies across offices in Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Massachusetts. The role follows a principally in-person Workplace for Your Day model with flexibility determined with the supervisor and team. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Base salary: $82,500–$137,500 per year across offices in Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Massachusetts.

What you will do

• Build and operate automated, repeatable data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory with strong observability.
• Implement Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medallion Architecture layers for raw data, validated transformations, and trusted analytics and AI data products.
• Ingest data from APIs and enterprise systems into lakehouses and Azure SQL stores, modeling data for reuse and AI/ML features.
• Develop data transformations and pipeline logic with Python, PySpark, Spark, SQL, and T-SQL.
• Build or learn agentic AI workloads such as Microsoft Copilot Agents, workflow automation, PR review bots, and orchestration assistants.
• Use Git and CI/CD for source control, code reviews, deployments, and collaboration with architects and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or software development.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, including experience with PySpark or Spark.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory, plus general Azure exposure including Azure SQL, Storage, and APIs.
• Experience with Databricks, preferably Azure Databricks, and working knowledge of Git and CI/CD.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, local travel, overtime, and occasional weekend work are also required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI agentic workloads and agent-based patterns.
• Knowledge of lakehouse or data warehouse architecture, cataloging, lineage, security, and governance.
• Power BI experience with semantic models or tabular modeling.
• PowerShell scripting or deployment automation experience.
