TL;DR
Associate Director, Business Operations, Quality Control (Biotechnology): Leading governance, portfolio management, business planning, and performance reporting for Moderna’s Global Quality Control transformation portfolio with an accent on strategic alignment, financial analysis, and executive decision support. Focus on coordinating complex cross-functional initiatives, managing risks and dependencies, and translating compliance, cost, and digital improvements into measurable value and efficiency gains.

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; 70% in-office and 30% flexible work model. Only U.S. persons are eligible due to U.S. export control requirements, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $142,500–$256,500 per year, with potential bonus, incentive compensation, or equity eligibility.

What you will do

  • Lead business operations, governance, operating cadences, and business planning for Global Quality Control.
  • Build executive dashboards, operational KPIs, performance reports, business reviews, and strategic presentations.
  • Establish portfolio management frameworks to prioritize initiatives, monitor progress, and manage risks and dependencies.
  • Partner with Finance and functional leaders on business cases, investment analyses, and value realization plans.
  • Coordinate strategic planning and execution across Quality Control, Supply Chain, Engineering, CMC Digital, Quality, Facilities, and Site Leadership.
  • Drive organizational planning, resource planning, roadmap development, compliance improvements, cost reductions, digital improvements, and efficiency gains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Science, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience in business operations, manufacturing operations, strategy, consulting, program management, or operational excellence within manufacturing or life sciences.
  • Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience establishing governance frameworks, portfolio management processes, executive operating cadences, and performance management systems.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including business cases, investment analyses, executive reporting, and value realization frameworks.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person to access export-controlled information; non-U.S. persons cannot be sponsored for an export control license.

  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
