Group Accountant - International

Location: Saltriver, Cape Town, South Africa; remote and onsite work. Local candidates are preferred, and applicants must be eligible to work in South Africa.

hirify.global is an early-stage life science company developing and producing DNA- and RNA-modifying enzymes for genomics, molecular diagnostics, and personalized medicine.

What you will do

• Process supplier invoices, payment runs, supplier reconciliations, customer invoices, credit notes, receipts, and collections.
• Maintain cashbooks across multiple bank accounts and currencies, prepare bank reconciliations, and reconcile company cards and employee expenses.
• Manage fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and the fixed asset register.
• Apply controls, maintain audit documentation, and prepare schedules for month-end, year-end, statutory audits, VAT, and other submissions.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and automate finance processes and contribute to ERP and workflow improvement projects.
• Maintain process documentation and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cashbook responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, transactional accounting controls, South African VAT and SARS eFiling requirements, and multi-currency processing.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with an ERP or accounting system.
• Strong accuracy, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and reconciliation skills.
• Eligibility to work in South Africa is required; South African citizens are preferred.

Nice to have

• Professional designation such as SAIPA or demonstrable progress toward one.
• Experience with cross-border transactions, a US-headquartered or multinational group, or a manufacturing environment.
