Senior Backend Developer (iGaming)

Location: Remote role associated with St. Julian's, Malta

A technology-driven scale-up building a complete gaming platform for rapid deployment in the iGaming industry.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain customer-facing gaming features, compliance and reporting systems, and core platform components.
• Review and debug code with attention to quality, data integrity, edge cases, and platform-wide effects.
• Participate in software design and architecture discussions for event-driven, serverless services.
• Own changes throughout the software development lifecycle, from clarifying requirements and assessing impact to verifying released behaviour.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and partners.
• Design tests for business rules, data accuracy, and failure scenarios while working with QA to ensure sufficient coverage.

Requirements

• Proven senior-level backend software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and the Node.js ecosystem.
• Experience with AWS or similar services, including DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, QuickSight, and S3.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated unit and integration tests.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and highly available, fault-tolerant systems with consistent data.
• Ability to work independently with strong analytical, communication, self-management, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with compliance, regulatory reporting, or systems requiring data accuracy, traceability, and auditability.
• Practical experience using AI tools in software development and extending AI and automation into engineering workflows.
