TL;DR
Lead Accountant (Project Accounting): Maintaining accurate general ledgers, management reports, financial statements, forecasts, and client invoicing for major nuclear infrastructure projects with an accent on project cost control, month-end close, and financial accuracy. Focus on reconciling complex balance sheet accounts, reviewing costs for client billing, producing project forecasts, and monitoring SOX/FCPA financial controls.
Location: Surrey, United Kingdom; based in Leatherhead. Applicants must already have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do
- Perform month-end activities, support period close, and review project costs for client billing.
- Prepare project forecasts, financial reviews, applications for payment, and monthly client invoices.
- Review timesheet bookings, expenses, budgets, and costs against forecasts to identify improvement opportunities.
- Reconcile and analyse complex balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate general ledger records and management reports.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls, including SOX and FCPA requirements.
- Work with project teams, operations, clients, vendors, and senior finance stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a project accounting environment; 3–7 years preferred.
- Qualified or studying toward ACMA, ACA, or ACCA.
- Strong financial and management accounting skills with good written and oral communication.
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, operate independently, and cover the immediate supervisor when required.
- Right to live and work in the United Kingdom is required; sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and FCPA.
- Experience working with vendors, clients, and complex project cost structures.
