AI/ML Engineer

Location: New York City, NY; onsite collaboration five days a week

Salary: $170,000–$235,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Turn messy financial data and ambiguous problems into production AI products.
• Build evaluations tied to real user outcomes and improve systems through error analysis, ablations, and production feedback.
• Make practical tradeoffs across model quality, cost, latency, determinism, reliability, and maintainability.
• Partner with product and engineering to build AI features that reduce manual work for finance teams.
• Own problems from initial exploration through production and iterate based on real usage.

Requirements

• Strong statistical and machine learning fundamentals with sound judgment about classical ML, LLMs, agents, and hybrid approaches.
• Experience shipping ML or AI systems end to end, from data and evaluation through production.
• Experience working with noisy data, weak labels, incomplete specifications, and imperfect supervision.
• Experience with several areas including classical ML, embeddings, retrieval and reranking, similarity search, model evaluation, LLM applications, and agentic systems.
• Strong Python skills and the ability to contribute to production software.
• A relevant bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience, a master’s degree with 1+ year of experience, a relevant PhD, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• TypeScript or modern web application experience.
• Experience demonstrated through shipped systems, independent research, open-source work, or a nontraditional path.
