Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Remote within the United States, supporting the U.S. Government Publishing Office in Washington, DC. Hours are 8 hours per day within 7:30 AM–6:00 PM ET, with periodic scheduled after-hours patching and reboot work.

What you will do

• Administer SQL Server, SQL Clusters, and standalone databases across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Design and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including failover testing and recovery drills.
• Lead database patching, installations, upgrades, and server maintenance.
• Tune queries, indexes, and server configurations for performance and capacity.
• Support Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MS Access, SharePoint integrations, and related application troubleshooting.
• Manage RFCs and ServiceNow tickets within SLAs, monitor database health, mentor a mid-level DBA, and deliver weekly activity reports.

Requirements

• 8+ years of SQL Server database administration experience.
• Deep experience with SQL Clustering, Always On/high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Strong T-SQL and SQL scripting skills.
• Working knowledge of Oracle, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly across teams.
• Availability to work remotely from the United States during the required Eastern Time schedule.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certification such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSE, or MCSA Data.
• Federal or large-enterprise support experience.
