Automation & Controls Engineering Intern (Winter 2027) (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Support the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of automated test systems for spacecraft hardware and ground-support equipment.
• Assist with control panels, wiring, sensors, actuators, relays, power distribution, data acquisition systems, and safety interlocks.
• Help build test automation software and telemetry pipelines for environmental testing.
• Collaborate with environmental test, mechanical, electrical, reliability, manufacturing, and software teams.
• Support the development of safe, reliable, and repeatable spacecraft testing solutions.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience with electrical circuits, instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition, embedded systems, PLCs, industrial automation, control systems, state machines, or hardware/software integration through coursework, projects, research, internships, clubs, or personal work.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Willingness to work in a lab or factory environment and perform hands-on hardware tasks.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.
