Director, Public Relations & Communications (AI)

Location: Remote in Canada, Kitchener, Ontario, or Toronto, Ontario

Base salary: CAD 150,000–160,000 annually

What you will do

• Develop and execute global PR and communications plans aligned with corporate and marketing strategy.
• Advise senior and executive leaders on reputation management, crisis communications, media relations, and executive messaging.
• Build relationships with journalists, media outlets, and industry influencers while securing high-impact coverage.
• Use generative AI to accelerate research, story development, media pitches, executive briefs, speeches, thought leadership, and campaign content.
• Develop crisis communication protocols, act as a spokesperson when appropriate, and coach leaders for media and crisis situations.
• Lead the PR and communications team, agencies, budgets, KPIs, awards programs, speaking engagements, and communications performance tracking.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in PR and strategic communications, including B2B communications and team leadership.
• Proven success in media relations, media strategy, crisis communications, and integrated communications programs.
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI into PR, corporate communications, media relations, executive communications, content development, or communications analytics.
• Exceptional writing, storytelling, presentation, analytical, and senior-level influencing skills.
• Experience leading PR or communications in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.

• Experience with global communications and reputation management.
• A strong network of media and leadership contacts, particularly in the learning industry or AI.
• Experience partnering across functions and geographies in a global or multi-market organization.
