Software Engineer - Software Infrastructure (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote within the United States; El Segundo, California. ITAR requirements apply: applicants must be U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

• Design, harden, and defend containerized infrastructure across edge compute and cloud environments.
• Lead threat modeling, vulnerability management, security reviews, and adoption of security and reliability tooling.
• Build automated, reproducible provisioning and configuration frameworks for bare-metal, cloud, air-gapped, and disconnected environments.
• Manage the issuance, distribution, rotation, and revocation of secrets, keys, and certificates across the fleet.
• Optimize infrastructure for constrained and degraded network conditions serving mobile and web clients.
• Implement and document security controls required for DoD and Intelligence Community accreditation.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience building, securing, and operating software infrastructure at the edge, on premises, or in the cloud.
• Strong cybersecurity foundation, including system and network hardening, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Deep experience with Docker, Docker Compose, container security, networking, storage, isolation, and hardened images and registries.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack, Terraform, OpenTofu, or comparable tools.
• Experience with secrets management and PKI, including Vault, OpenBao, AWS KMS, SOPS, TPM, or HSM-backed keys.
• Proficiency in Linux administration and security, including SELinux, AppArmor, firewalls, auditing, and disk encryption; a relevant technical degree or equivalent experience is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with custom Linux kernels, embedded hardware board support packages, secure boot, and measured boot.
• Familiarity with RMF, DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and Impact Levels 4–6.
• Experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government Cloud, Kubernetes, K3s, or Rancher RKE2.
• Experience securing CI/CD pipelines and software supply chains, including SBOMs, artifact signing, and reproducible builds.
• Security certifications or an active Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
