Data Scientist (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote in Canada

Salary: CA$125,000–CA$175,000 base pay annually, with potential bonuses, incentives, stock options, and benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Analysts to improve bot detection, develop product features, and optimize data and machine learning infrastructure.
• Research and experiment with detection frameworks, statistical techniques, and machine learning tools for cybersecurity and fraud prevention.
• Gather business requirements, conduct exploratory research, and develop and deploy statistical detection techniques in production.
• Review detection rules and algorithms, monitor system anomalies, and participate in processes that maintain code quality and reliability.
• Build software tooling and automation that accelerates fraud discovery and reduces cumbersome manual work.

Requirements

• Experience solving large-scale, data-intensive problems in production systems.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling approaches and the engineering realities of shipping production code.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with familiarity with related tools, libraries, and platforms.
• Object-oriented development and strong debugging skills.
• Experience with cross-functional projects, multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders, and SDLC practices including project management, version control, unit testing, and CI/CD.
