Staff Data Scientist

Location: US Remote

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 per year for US-based candidates, plus potential equity; ranges may vary by location outside the US.

What you will do

• Design and implement automated machine learning systems and foundational ML infrastructure from the ground up.
• Translate ambiguous business questions involving customer acquisition, churn, supply chain, and marketing attribution into actionable technical roadmaps.
• Lead the end-to-end deployment of robust, maintainable ML products in production.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Business teams to align technical strategy with measurable business outcomes.
• Define model development standards through design documentation, peer reviews, and reproducible workflows.
• Own model lifecycles and mentor Senior and Mid-level Data Scientists.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Data Science or ML Engineering, with a record of building production systems.
• High proficiency in Python and SQL, including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and at least one major ML framework such as PyTorch, XGBoost, or LightGBM.
• Experience with CI/CD, MLOps, and model lifecycle management in AWS- or GCP-based production environments.
• Ability to solve systemic problems, influence without authority, and communicate complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders.
• BS, MS, PhD, or equivalent expertise in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.
• Must be based in the United States for the stated compensation range.

Nice to have

• Experience taking initial ML models from exploratory notebooks to reliable automated production pipelines.
• Experience with customer behavior and propensity modeling, forecasting, anomaly detection, optimization, or causal inference.
• Knowledge of churn, lead scoring, lifetime value, marketing spend, inventory management, or resource allocation models.
