Senior Technical Animator (Unreal Engine)

Location: Montreal, QC, Canada; hybrid workplace

What you will do

• Build and maintain rigs for bipedal, non-bipedal, and mechanical characters in Unreal Engine.
• Define and set up animation pipelines from DCC tools through the game engine.
• Implement and maintain in-engine animation systems in collaboration with animators and programmers.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve animation bugs across in-game systems.
• Optimize character rigs for scalable real-time performance.
• Create technical documentation for animation and programming teams.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of animation experience in the video game industry.
• Strong technical skills in rigging and skinning, with a solid understanding of animation principles.
• Expertise in Blender, Maya, and Unreal Engine.
• Experience with Motion Matching, State Machines, Blend Spaces, Behavior Trees, and State Trees.
• Experience integrating animation logic and systems directly in a game engine.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Unreal Control Rig and its real-time applications for procedural animation systems.
• Knowledge of MEL, Python, or Mgear.
