Senior Linux Systems Engineer (Object Storage)

Location: USA - Remote. US citizenship or Green Card required. Travel 2–3 business trips per year and periodic background and fingerprint checks are required.

Base salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, plus eligibility for bonuses and equity grants.

What you will do

• Design, build, monitor, and maintain multi-cloud distributed systems across on-premise and public cloud environments.
• Develop and operate a custom S3-compatible object storage solution spanning more than 3,000 Linux servers.
• Administer bare-metal and virtual Linux systems, troubleshoot hardware, and maintain critical production infrastructure.
• Optimize Linux kernels, file systems, storage subsystems, networking, and observability to meet SLAs and SLOs.
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using scripting, configuration management, IaaS tooling, dashboards, and alerting.
• Lead technical projects, coordinate cross-functional dependencies, mentor engineers, manage incident resolution, and participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• US citizenship or Green Card required.
• 7+ years of professional experience with large-scale distributed systems and a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in Linux internals, including virtual memory, process scheduling, storage I/O, and kernel-level performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with on-premise block and object storage, Kubernetes-native technologies, AWS S3-compatible storage, TCP/IP networking, and high-bandwidth data transfer.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Python or Go scripting, and Chef configuration management.
• Strong communication, documentation, security, analytics, forecasting, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills, including experience applying AI technologies to improve workflows and decisions.
