Senior Database Engineer (MS SQL Server & Oracle)

Location: Hybrid in Sofia; candidates must reside in Bulgaria and work from Bulgaria only.

What you will do

• Act as the L3 expert for Microsoft SQL Server across 5–6 client environments.
• Administer Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, replication, and standalone instances.
• Analyse and tune queries, indexes, waits, blocking, and resource usage; perform health and capacity reviews.
• Operate Oracle 19c databases on Linux and Windows, including RAC, Grid Infrastructure, and RMAN backups.
• Manage incidents, problems, changes, service requests, vendor cases, and documentation through ITIL processes and ServiceNow.
• Automate recurring database tasks with T-SQL, PowerShell, dbatools, or Ansible.

Requirements

• 6+ years of production experience as an MS SQL Server DBA, including several years at expert L3 level.
• Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, replication, performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
• At least 2 years of hands-on Oracle administration, including Oracle 19c, RAC, and RMAN.
• Working-level Windows Server and Linux administration, plus T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with ITIL processes and ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM tool.
• Fluent English at C1 level and residence in Bulgaria with the ability to work from Bulgaria only.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications such as DP-300 and Oracle OCP 19c.
• Oracle Data Guard, Grid Infrastructure patching, dbatools, Ansible, or other automation experience.
• Azure SQL or other cloud database experience.
• Experience supporting several client environments simultaneously.
