TL;DR
Senior Staff Software Engineer (AI Governance): Building scalable Java/Python microservices, reporting capabilities, semantic layers, and event-driven integrations for an AI governance platform with an accent on secure multi-tenant SaaS, real-time observability, and responsible AI workloads. Focus on designing distributed systems with Kafka and Apache Flink, integrating LLM platforms and runtime signals, and leading multi-quarter architecture and platform roadmaps.

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; office-first culture with three days per week in the office for most roles.

Annual base pay: $165,000–$247,500 USD for candidates based in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington. The role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, equity, commissions, and benefits.

Company

hirify.global develops an AI-Ready Governance Platform that combines regulatory intelligence, automation, and connected governance workflows for responsible data and AI use.

What you will do

  • Lead the design and development of Java/Python microservices, shared libraries, and cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure using Core Java, REST, and Spring.
  • Build reusable AI governance reporting, dashboards, semantic layers, metric abstractions, query APIs, pre-aggregation, caching, filtering, and drill-down workflows.
  • Design event-driven integrations with Kafka and Apache Flink to process observability events and produce dashboard-ready datasets and derived metrics.
  • Integrate AI observability APIs and data contracts for runtime metrics, logs, traces, alerts, policy decisions, and evidence.
  • Own technical designs for scalable, secure, and reliable systems, partner with frontend engineers on dashboard experiences, and maintain automated unit and integration test coverage.
  • Lead architecture discussions, technical planning, code reviews, multi-quarter roadmaps, mentoring, and alignment across engineering, product, UX, security, platform, and observability teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical or business field.
  • 12+ years of professional software engineering and development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring, Python, design patterns, microservices, and cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Experience leading reusable platform, reporting, analytics, or data products supporting multiple teams or dashboards.
  • Hands-on experience with Cube.js, semantic layers, metric layers, or comparable metric/query abstraction systems.
  • Hands-on Apache Flink experience with real-time stream processing, windowed aggregation, event correlation, or derived-metric generation.
  • Experience designing event-driven services and Kafka data-ingestion pipelines integrating SQL databases, analytical platforms, APIs, and observability systems.
  • Strong experience with data modeling, dataset contracts, pre-aggregation, read models, caching, query optimization, and data-quality controls.
  • Experience building secure, multi-tenant SaaS platforms with tenant isolation, authentication, authorization, and secure service-to-service communication.
  • Experience with AI/LLM platforms and production AI workloads, including model orchestration, RAG, evaluation, guardrails, or runtime observability.
  • Good understanding of REST, OAuth, JSON, SQL, NoSQL databases, and Python or Bash scripting.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, production monitoring, incident response, Agile development practices, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, and open-source technologies.
  • Ability to lead multi-quarter roadmaps, make build-versus-reuse decisions, and align engineering, product, UX, security, platform, and observability teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus/MetricsQL, Grafana Loki/LogQL, Grafana Tempo/TraceQL, Alertmanager, or Open Policy Agent.
  • Experience integrating with Databricks, Delta Lake, Power BI, or other analytical data platforms.
  • Experience building configurable dashboard systems, data visualization frameworks, or design-system-based frontend platforms.
  • Experience with AI governance, model risk management, compliance, GRC, audit evidence, or regulatory reporting.
  • Experience with graph data models, dependency maps, entity resolution, or supply-chain analysis.
  • Experience designing SDK telemetry, model gateways, runtime instrumentation, or post-market monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes, including cluster deployment, scaling, and management.
  • Background in enterprise, regulated, or security-focused environments.

Culture & Benefits

  • Office-first work environment with meaningful opportunities for in-person collaboration and team events.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage, flexible PTO, equity RSUs, annual performance bonus opportunities, and retirement account support.
  • 14+ weeks of paid parental leave and career development opportunities.
  • Company-paid privacy certification exam fees; specific benefits vary by country.
  • Focus on ownership, learning, engineering excellence, diversity, inclusion, and equal employment opportunity.
