Surgical Tech - Per Diem (Labor & Delivery) SEIU

Location: MelroseWakefield Hospital, United States; onsite operating-room work with on-call coverage as required.

Pay range: $29.42–$36.57, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Prepare operating rooms, case carts, instruments, and equipment for scheduled surgical procedures.
• Perform the scrub-person role by maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments, anticipating surgeon needs, and accounting for sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assist registered nurses, physicians, anesthesiologists, and transport staff with patient transfers, equipment setup, specimens, and emergency supplies.
• Apply electrocautery to clamps under surgeon supervision and perform other technical surgical tasks.
• Maintain operating-room cleanliness, equipment, supplies, preference cards, and required documentation.
• Provide on-call coverage, attend staff meetings and in-services, and maintain skills across surgical specialties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech program, qualifying military training, or qualifying surgical-technologist experience before July 1, 2013.
• Surgical Technician certification through an accredited program or within 12 months of program completion.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to follow directions, work precisely under pressure, handle confidential information, and perform prolonged standing, walking, patient turning, and occasional lifting of 30–35 lbs.

Nice to have

• Two years of operating-room experience.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, computer, and operative-procedure skills.
