Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Edinburgh office, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

Salary: GBP 76,800–115,200 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end data lifecycle from clinical study data collection through clinical validation trials.
• Design and manage scalable data infrastructure for clinical trials, sensor platforms, and high-performance computing environments.
• Maintain and optimize data storage, access, security, and backup systems.
• Develop data manipulation, processing, and testing tools to ensure data quality and reliability.
• Define data architecture, engineering standards, and best practices across R&D.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, researchers, and cross-functional teams to support machine learning and signal processing applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, engineering, physics, biomedical engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in database architecture, design, and management.
• Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and scalable data workflows.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL or other relevant programming languages.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and configuration management.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical devices, sensor technologies, or algorithm development.
• Understanding of signal processing techniques.
• Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence frameworks.
• Exposure to computer vision and image processing.
• Working proficiency in C++, C#, or MATLAB, plus knowledge of healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.
