Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: New York, New York; hybrid work in the NYC office three days a week

Salary: $225,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and integrations for estate planning, tax planning, and AI-driven products.
• Own features from specification and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Write production-grade TypeScript with strong testing, observability, and operational discipline.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn ambiguous problems into technical solutions.
• Contribute to system design decisions involving scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, on-call rotations, and the development of engineering practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering backend systems to production.
• Strong TypeScript proficiency or deep experience with Java, Go, C#, Kotlin, or Rust and the ability to ramp up quickly in TypeScript.
• Experience designing and operating systems handling real traffic, data volumes, and users.
• Knowledge of REST/gRPC API design, relational and NoSQL databases, messaging systems, caching, and concurrency.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker or Kubernetes; and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Production experience with logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, incident response, and supporting shipped systems.

Nice to have

• Experience at an early- or growth-stage startup.
• Experience in fintech, wealth management, or regulated environments involving compliance, audit, or PII.
• AI/ML infrastructure, LLM-powered products, document processing, OCR, or extraction pipeline experience.
• Experience integrating with enterprise platforms used by financial institutions.
• Experience with Node, NestJS, tRPC, Prisma, or PostgreSQL.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
