Senior BI Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Tel Aviv, Israel; hybrid with 3 days in the office

What you will do

• Design and own dimensional and domain data models in Snowflake as trusted sources for business metrics.
• Build tested, incremental, and version-controlled data transformations and pipelines using dbt, Python, Airflow, and third-party integrations.
• Implement data contracts, quality tests, monitoring, and alerting to ensure reliable analytics.
• Optimize Snowflake queries, warehouses, models, and costs as data volumes grow.
• Develop semantic and metrics layers that support analysts, BI tools, and LLM-based agents.
• Lead proof-of-concepts, migrations, architecture decisions, code reviews, mentoring, and cross-functional data initiatives.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a BI Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or Data Engineer.
• Expert SQL skills, including query-plan analysis and performance optimization at scale.
• Strong experience with data warehouse design, dimensional modeling, star schemas, SCDs, and incremental loads.
• Production experience with Snowflake, Airflow or similar orchestration tools, dbt, Python, Git workflows, and CI/CD for data.
• Strong ownership and the ability to take ambiguous requirements through to production.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Hebrew, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with semantic layers, metrics stores, and BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma.
• Experience with data observability and quality tooling.
• Experience building data foundations for LLMs or AI agents, including text-to-SQL, MCP, or RAG over structured data.
• Background in insurance, fintech, or cybersecurity data.
• A relevant bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
