Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Fully remote from the UK, Ireland, Portugal, or Spain, with collaboration during core GMT working hours.

What you will do

• Build and operate distributed C# and .NET microservices hosted on Azure and Kubernetes.
• Develop event-driven systems supporting products used at significant scale across multiple African markets.
• Own services end to end from design and implementation through deployment, production operation, and iteration.
• Design for idempotency, retries, out-of-order events, and failure modes.
• Use observability data, incidents, and production feedback to improve system resilience.
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams and contribute to an AI-native development workflow.

Requirements

• Strong experience with C# and .NET development.
• Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies such as Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with microservices architecture, preferably on Azure and Kubernetes.
• Experience using observability tools such as Grafana and Azure Application Insights.
• Comfort using AI tools for design, code review, testing, incident investigation, and technical communication.
• DevOps mindset with on-call responsibility, production ownership, distributed-team collaboration, and continuous learning.
