Senior Data Scientist (Fintech)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with attendance at the Berlin campus 2 days per week

What you will do

• Own data science problems end to end, from ambiguous business questions through data preparation, modelling, deployment, monitoring, and adoption.
• Build and ship fraud detection, anomaly detection, real-time transaction decisioning, acquisition scorecard, and behavioural limit management models.
• Develop data marts and pipelines that produce features and training datasets.
• Work closely with Engineering on reliability, deployment, testing, and the data science lifecycle.
• Explain modelling trade-offs and recommendations to Risk, Compliance, Finance, Payments, and leadership.
• Use coding agents and LLM tools to accelerate development while reviewing their output for accuracy.

Requirements

• Track record of owning models from problem definition through validation, deployment, and real business use.
• Strong Python, SQL, data analysis, testing, and CI/CD skills.
• Experience with orchestration and scheduled feature or training-data pipelines, such as Airflow.
• Experience with model deployment and production monitoring, including tools such as Metaflow or Vertex AI.
• Ability to make defensible decisions under ambiguity and explain modelling trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency with AI tooling, coding agents, and LLMs, including reviewing generated code and documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience in fraud, credit risk, payments, or fintech.
• Experience with real-time or streaming decisioning systems.
• Experience building and deploying deep learning models in production.
• Experience building LLM- or agent-based solutions in production.
