Senior Cost Accountant (Manufacturing)

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Support manufacturing plants with product costing, new item setup, standard cost updates, and manufacturing overhead rate calculations.
• Prepare inventory valuation analyses, including LIFO and FIFO calculations, and manage excess and obsolete inventory processes.
• Research, analyze, and explain manufacturing and inventory variances while helping plant personnel resolve inventory transaction issues.
• Prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and review general ledger activity for proper classification.
• Load operational and financial data into Planful and coordinate monthly close and forecast calendars.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes, audits, and plant controller activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and standard costing systems.
• Experience with general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modeling.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, and deadline-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.
• Familiarity with Planful or similar financial planning and reporting software.
• Experience with LIFO/FIFO inventory methodologies and manufacturing operations.
